St. Louis Information

Home of the majestic Gateway Arch symbolizing the city’s role as launching point for the nation’s westward expansion, St. Louis is rich in history, culture and affordable fun. Nearly 3 million residents make up the metropolitan area spanning both sides of the mighty Mississippi River near its confluence with the Missouri River. Since its founding as a fur trading outpost in 1764, St. Louis and these great rivers have been intricately bound.
Today, the city’s revitalized downtown rises above the riverfront, and includes scores of chic retailers, loft condos, hip nightspots and of course Busch Stadium, home of the Cardinals Major League Baseball team. Just south of the stadium are historic French-influenced neighborhoods like Soulard, Lafayette Square, and LaSalle Park.
St. Louis is comprised of many unique urban neighborhoods, each with its own distinct architectural style and ambience. All offer multiple diversions for visitors, but especially the cafes and art galleries of the Central West End, fabulous Italian bakeries and dining on The Hill, bohemian people-watching of the U-City Loop, Asian-eclectic of Grand South Grand and the cool sophistication of Clayton.
St. Louis is blessed with numerous world-class attractions for people of all ages, and many free to the public. These include museums, theaters and concert halls, The St. Louis Zoo, Missouri Botanical Garden, Science Center, Anhueser Busch Brewery, and The Basilica Cathedral.
For recreation, visitors and residents flock to the city’s abundant parks, especially the sprawling Forest Park, with everything from multiple golf courses to cricket fields. In recent years, the area has developed an extensive network of hiking and biking trails called The Great Rivers Greenway.
Getting to St. Louis is easy! Interstates 55/44/64 and 70 all converge in the city, while Lambert Airport is served by most domestic carriers with non-stops to over 70 cities. While in town, try the region’s Metrolink light rail transit system to get around.
